ELEVATE! Program Results
The ELEVATE! Afterschool Program is a comprehensive education and enrichment program that delivers academic performance improvement, behavioral and attendance improvement and social-emotional learning to children in urban and suburban communities.
Our model works. Our curriculum allows at-risk children to experience gains in learning and achievement. The model works in good times and bad. It works for students in Toledo, Sylvania and Washington Local. And it works for reading and math.
Some of the highlights from our recent data include:
- Almost all of our students showed an increase in their common core performance tier.
- About 80% of our students showed a score change on their proficiency test.
- Nearly half (47%) of our students showed a grade-level increase in math and 35% in ELA, i.e., reading
- In Math, we had 12% proficiency at the beginning of the year and 41% at the end of year
- In reading, students went from 22% proficiency to 48% proficiency.
Comparing Effectiveness to Last School Year
Student test scores have been plummeting around the United States since COVID. Two decades of progress in math were wiped out in a single school year, for example. If this gap persists for students through multiple school years, it has the potential to become permanent. By helping these students gain a proficient status, ELEVATE! has allowed them to reset their academic careers from COVID and get back onto a growth trajectory.
