The ELEVATE Virtual Learning Center

Center of Hope Family Services

The ELEVATE Virtual Learning Center is an online after-school program for students in kindergarten through eighth grade who attend Old West End, Martin Luther King, and Robinson elementary schools.

Using Zoom sessions, the Virtual Learning Center aims to:

  • Improve literacy and math performance
  • Increase engagement in education and enrichment activities
  • Teach leadership skills within the program and the broader community

Online sessions are conducted Monday through Thursday from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.
 

Program Activities

Homework Assistance
i-Ready reading and math instruction help children stay on target in reading and math so they can perform at their grade levels.

Performing Arts
Performing arts sessions include dance, theater and vocal lessons.

ELEVATING with Dr. P
Dr. P uses reading and language arts enrichment to keep children connected positively to other children and adults. ELEVATING helps children manage stress, build self-esteem and promote social-skill development. Remember: It’s not how you start; it’s how you finish! Check out Dr. P’s PowerPoint presentation to learn more. This large-group session takes place every Wednesday.

Cooking with Mrs. P 
Cooking can make learning fun for children by giving them opportunities to prepare food while using reading and math. This large-group session takes place one Friday a month.

Crafting with Mrs. P 
It’s fun to learn with the visual arts! This activity gives children the chance to craft while using reading and math. This large-group session takes place every Wednesday.
